When you direct flow inside a muffler, I call it a chamber.
Straight through is exactly that, straight without blocking or directing flow.
A dyno test of a true straight through vs. directed vanes or chambers on a turbo engine will show a true straight through offers significant more power.

Not many B&B mufflers on my customers cars around here, I have pulled a few off to replace with better flowing mufflers.
I have friends in other car communities that use to use B&B, and on Porsche's they have a insane failure rates. A Google search might surprise you.
